Hello! Welcome to my website! I'm so glad that you are here.
A while back some writer friends of mine suggested that I create a website so that in the future when I finally publish something, my readers will have some sort of a landing page. I took their advice and started to create a website, but I got distracted. For a while, I had been thinking of creating a Writergram account and while I was creating this website, I also created my Instagram account @melissa_officinalis_writes. As my Writergram account grew, I kind of forgot about this website. About a week or so ago I remembered that I forgot to finish this website and finally finished putting it together.
Since I'm not anywhere near publishing any of my WIPs at the moment, this website will be dedicated to my writing journey. Here I will post any short stories that I write as well as discussions on topics too long to cover on my Instagram account. Along with sharing my love of writing, this site will also display my love for nature in the form of nature photos. Since I am in my senior year of college, there probably won't be any regular posts until after May of next year ( as much as I would love to write more, I have too much schoolwork to focus on). Until then, any major announcements about this site as well as any major posts will be announced on my Instagram account.
So who am I? As the name of this site suggests, my name is Melissa Ring. I already introduced myself (sort of) on the About page but here are some other fun/random facts about me:
I'm a Catholic Christian. While most of my writing isn't explicitly religious, my writing is guided by my Catholic worldview.
I've been fascinated with the weather ever since Hurricane Irene swept through my area in August 2011.
I went into college as a meteorology major. I ended up switching my major to geography because I could not handle the math required to get a degree in meteorology.
I'm a huge baseball fan. My favorite team is the Philadelphia Phillies. There likely will be baseball talk in the Random Ramblings section at some point.
I'm caffeine-sensitive and can only drink a little before I start having adverse reactions.
I have partial heterochromia. That means that both my eyes have distinct patches of two different colors (blue and brown in my case).
Anyway, thank you so much for checking out my website! It's going to be an adventure trying to figure out what I'm doing here with this website and I look forward to meeting you all on that adventure. We'll see what the next few months bring.
